Division 3 Preview 2016

NHIAA Golf

In Division II, Hanover, which has won the state title four of the last five years, including the last two, along with Windham, are the frontrunners. “Portsmouth and Coe-Brown (of Northwood) each had young teams last year and will contend along with St. Thomas (of Dover) and Goffstown, who both finished in the top five last year,” said Hanover coach and NHIAA committee member John Donnelly.

The Marauders are deep this season behind seniors Jack Brendel, Finn Hackett, Finn Higgins, Grant Morhun, Rainier Nahabedian, Brian Seltzer, and Chris Sundaram. Phin Choukas, David Lehmann and Matt Suriawinata headline an outstanding and talented junior class while sophomore Peter Lukovits provides depth.

Senior James McKee of Windham, who captured the state Junior title this summer and in 2014, and Choukas of Hanover are the top contenders this season for the individual title. Lehmann of Hanover, sophomore Justin Grondahl of Portsmouth, senior Ryan Coxen of Oyster River of Durham and sophomore Nick Grimbilas of Bishop Brady of Concord are worthy contenders to the crown.

Hanover will host the Division I championship on Oct. 6, Beaver Meadow of Concord will host Division II and Waukewan Golf Club of Center Harbor will host Divisions III and IV. The individual tournaments will be held Oct. 8.
